Exploring the Causes and Potential Solutions for the Disproportionate Impact of Pedestrian Crashes in Low-Income and Minority Neighborhoods
Bridging Urban Planning and Public Health, Rutgers University
May 2018
Low-income and minority individuals are disproportionately represented serious injury and deadly pedestrian and bicycle crashes. This research paper examines reasons for the disparity, potential safety solutions, and three frameworks for addressing the disparity - Environmental Justice, Vision Zero, and Safe Routes to School.
I presented the research at Transportation Camp NYC in October 2019 and at the virtual Transportation Camp PHL in April 2020.
