Previous Work Experience

Team at Subway Series at WTC
Planning and Operations Intern
World Trade Center Department, Port Authority of NY & NJ, Jun 2018 - May 2019

While working with the World Trade Center Department's Division of Planning, Communications, and Customer Initiatives, my projects focused on improving wayfinding in the Oculus Transportation Center, improving the customer experience, and increasing the brand value of the World Trade Center through marketing, social media, and events efforts.

I evaluated the effectiveness of the customer service staff that provide help with directions in the Oculus. Based on staff feedback, I secured iPads for staff use and created a document of frequently asked questions to help new staff quickly provide answers to visitors.

I also designed and administered a customer survey in the Oculus Transportation Center to gather information customer experience. After conducting the survey, I analyzed the data and complied a report that recommended further steps.

Research Assistant
Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center, Rutgers University, Sept 2017 - May 2018

While working at the VTC, I researched how 100 MPOs integrated environmental justice into transportation planning and programming. From this research, I drafted examples of best practices for the Federal Highway Administration Environmental Justice Analysis in Transportation Planning and Programming: State of the Practice.

I also worked with the NJ Safe Routes to School Resource Center completing literature reviews and analyzing data. I analyzed data for professor Kelcie Ralph's article examining Level of Traffic Stress as a bicycle facility rating system for children. The study found that most parents would not allow their children to ride on LTS 1 facilities, considered suitable for children, until they were about 13 years of age.

Community Service Program Coordinator
Dickinson Center for Service, Spirituality, and Social Justice, Aug 2016 - May 2017

My main responsibility was overseeing 10 student employees who led four groups focusing on community service and social justice programming. I met with the students weekly to provide support and direction to help them achieve success. Other responsibilities included organizing events, overseeing the volunteer clearance process, sending weekly newsletters, and updating the website and social media. Highlights from the year included:

  • More than 1,000 students participated in our programs and events

  • Students served 11,800 hours through our programs and events

  • One group raised $3,000 for Rise Against Hunger

  • Through our work-study program, 20 students served 2,900 hours as dedicated interns with local non-profits in the community at no cost to the local organizations

As only the second person to hold this position, I took it upon myself to create a manual and extensive notes, instructions , and recommendations based on my experience so that the incoming Program Coordinator could hit the ground running. These materials are important in creating consistent, successful programs as this position brings in a new grad each year.

Program Assistant
Central PA Conservancy, Sept 2012 - May 2014 and Aug 2015 - May 2016

I worked at the Central PA Conservancy (CPC) for three years. One of my major duties each year was researching and writing sponsorship requests to local organizations and corporate sponsors for our major spring fundraiser, a 50K and 15K trail run with over 500 participants annually. From this experience, I learned to craft a message that highlights the aspects of the CPC's programs in which sponsors will be most interested based on their mission and values.

In my third year, I took on additional responsibilities. I served as the volunteer coordinator for the spring fundraiser, which included recruiting volunteers, creating assignments, and answering volunteer questions. I also designed educational posters about a local stream that the CPC was in the process of acquiring a property on. The posters covered environmental, social, and historical importance of the property. I presented these posters at the CPC’s fall fundraising event with over 100 attendees.
