The mission of Volunteering Untapped PHL is to engage Philadelphians in their community. We volunteer the second Saturday of each month with different organizations throughout Philadelphia. Distributing Dignity
Volunteer, June - August 2017

Distributing Dignity is a non-profit organization in South Jersey with the mission to "distribute new bras, pads, and tampons, enhancing the dignity of women in need."

I volunteered with them to help with processing incoming donations, stocking, and sending out shipments.

Ecosystem Restoration Service Trip to the Gulf Coast of Florida
Staff Mentor, March 2017

In March 2017, I was a staff mentor on a service trip to the Gulf Coast of Florida focusing on ecosystem restoration. On this trip, we bagged more than 30 tons of fossilized oyster shells to create an oyster reef. Oyster reefs help to encourage oyster growth and prevent coastal erosion. Another day, we worked with Restore, a store that sells donated furniture and household goods to benefit Habitat for Humanity, to clean and reorganize the store. We also worked with the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center to improve the facility through cleaning and replacing planks on a boardwalk. The trip was an incredible opportunity for me and the students on the trip to learn about the environmental issues in Florida through service.

Alpha Phi Omega
VP of Service, Service Chair, Member, Dickinson College, Sept 2013 - May 2016

Alpha Phi Omega (APO) is an international coed service fraternity. Dickinson's chapter has more than 80 members who put in more than 2,500 hours of service each year. We volunteered with local schools and nursing homes and organizations such as Project SHARE (local food bank), Salvation Army, and the Furry Friends Network.

As the VP of Service, I coordinated weekly service opportunities with our community partners and coordinated volunteers to fill those spots. As the Service Chair, I planned a spring-cleaning at a local historical Mansion that serves as a hostel for Appalachian Trail hikers and environmental education center.

2016 Ironmaster's Challenge
Montgomery Service Leaders
Volunteer with Central PA Conservancy, Sept 2012 - May 2014, Aug 2015 - May 2016

Montgomery Service Leaders is a program unique to Dickinson College that places work-study eligible students with a local non-profit for 6-8 hours per week. The program is progressive with students learning about their placement in the first year, connecting their work to a class in the second year, and completing a capstone project in the final semester, which includes writing a small grant.

I worked with the Central PA Conservancy. My capstone project was researching and designing educational posters about a local stream on which the CPC was acquiring a property. The posters covered the environmental, social, and historical aspects of the property and I presented them at the CPC’s fall fundraiser to over 100 attendees.

Cherry Hill Food Pantry
Volunteer, May - Aug 2010

While volunteering with the Cherry Hill Food Pantry, I greeted clients, checked them in, packed bags of food that were distributed to clients, and helped clients take the food to their cars.
